Our Apple Unit

It has taken me some time to get in gear for this unit. On my homeschooling board the ladies decided we should do a unit every 2 weeks. So this is what we have gotten done so far. APPLES!

Our supplies ready and waiting....

Introductions to fractions for Abby. This really was a great way to get the concept down.

This was a fun little exercise we did. Abby was measuring weights. First she guessed how many blocks it would take to equal 1 slice, 2 slices and 4 slices. They guessed that if they would simply double the number then the answer would be correct. WRONG. Mamma didn't cut them evenly so all of them were different.

Then we decided to do some Apple prints. Abby chose to do the paint and then sprinkle the wet paint with glitter.

Oh, and don't bother telling her that there is NO such thing as a blue apple. She doesn't care. Where there is pink, there MUST be blue!

We decided to do the apple prints on the fronts of our lapbooks. We will come back later and fill in the lapbook information on apples.

Here is Hali and her project. She decided to dip her apple in glue and then sprinkle with glitter. Her apple prints probably would have turned out much better if I wouldn't have gotten side tracked with making lunch for our employees. She worked ahead independently and I didn't get a chance to talk about dabbing some of the glue off first. Her final project turned out lovely!

I caught Hali in the middle of a big sneeze!
